Your Tax Dollars at Work
Maybe we could get Yucca mountain back on track if Edward "Ward" Sproat, a nuclear industry executive from Pennsylvania is confirmed as director of the Energy Department's Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management.
Note the word 'confirmed'. As in senate. As in Ted 'mah ass is huge' Kennedy and Harry 'not in my backyard' Reid. If they listen to Bob Loux, who coordinates Nevada's 'official' opposition, chances are Sproat will be a no-go.
"On the other hand," Loux continued, "if he is coming at it from the experience of negotiating with DOE, maybe that is an indicator he is going to move the department to the direction of settling with the utilities."Settling? We are going to continue using OUR tax dollars to pay utilities to keep their waste on-site? We already pay Exelon to keep storing their waste. Boy, you liberals sure are loose with other people's money! How about you start paying them out of your own pocket, Loux? I'd rather have the repository.
"Any nominee will face tough questions moving through the hearing process," said Tessa Hafen, spokeswoman for Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., a repository critic who closely watches the project.Well, duh.
